Some martial arts weapons are mainly offensive weapons, such as a sword, while others are mainly defensive. There are a few, however, which are a mixture of an offensive and defensive weapon. One of those weapons is the sai. No one is quite sure where the first sai came from, but it is definitely Okinawn in its ancestry. Its two prongs that extend out from either side are perfect for trapping a blade or bow staff while it’s short blade is perfect for being used as a dagger.
