Judo/Jujitsu/HapkidoJudo and Jujitsu are both Japanese-originated martial arts that depend on a lot of grappling and throwing. Both of these sports are extremely physical, and are amazing to watch as a spectator. But the real action begins when you stop being a spectator, and start being a combatant. There are two weights to the traditional judogi: single weave and double weave. The single weave fabric is light and, usually, less expensive. It is good for late spring and summer training, and for the beginning artist. The double weave fabric is much hardier and will last through numerous throws and grabs. It is generally the choice of fabric to wear during a tournament. For the Brazilian Jiujitsu uniforms, we offer brands such as Atama, Gameness, Isami, Fuji, & Ronin. Materials such as Gold weave, pearl weave, single, double, & carioca weaves can be purchased below.
In order to be properly garbed for a competition, you need to have a proper judo or jujitsu uniform. The Japanese name for a judo uniform is judogi, but both uniforms can also be called a gi. The uniform is made of two parts: light weight pants, and a heavier weigh top. The lightness of the pants allows for quick movements, while the heavier top absorbs sweat better. In the Japanese culture, the judogi should be crossed left side over right side. Doing otherwise can be considered an insult, and it is never wise to insult your instructors or your judge. The traditional judogi is white, however the International Judo Federation decided that to use one bleach white, and one color, such as blue, judogi per match. This enables both the spectators and the officials to see exactly what is going on during the match. Because both judo and jujitsu are a close-contact martial art, it is sometimes difficult with just one color fabric to tell who is pinning whom. |
